Today, we invite you to experience the "Pilgrim Lifestyle" in order to deepen your faith. The Pilgrim Lifestyle is a journey that goes beyond the actual pilgrimage and becomes the discovery of the path that every man journeys with Christ, nourished by the Holy Spirit, towards God the Father. It is a way of living, open to God and to others, while responsibly respecting all of creation, in complete conformity with Jesus' message "Love one another as I have loved you"(John 15:12).
The Pilgrim Lifestyle is a way of being and living that reflects a spiritual call and that fully realizes man's vocation as a child of God and brother to his neighbor. A pilgrimage, in the most profound sense, is a metaphor for our existence condensed into a short period of time, a journey towards the face of God that reveals itself in Jesus Christ and through the action of His Church. Whether it is a new experience, or a repeated one, it is always rich in new discoveries and ideas.
With the entire Church we are called to spread the "good word" of the Son of God. Every pilgrimage, then, reveals itself as an Itinerary of the Spirit. Therefore we wish to offer to everyone the opportunity to live through this experience, an introspective journey that responds to the call for answers that lie in the heart of every man and every woman.
Our behavior will consist of silence, listening, prayer, observation, sharing, and of being accessible and open to all of the opportunities that a journey might present to us. With constant assistance from pastoral guides and the ORP staff, who will coordinate all on-site services, we will witness these places under the light of the Word of God. A moment of listening, an itinerary of faith, a time for conversion, because participating in a pilgrimage always means going towards a destination to converge one's personal history with the story of Salvation.
A pilgrim can be anyone who becomes receptive to an inner calling to God, to life, to a Journey of the Spirit. Visiting sacred places can connect travelers with a source of help through which they may be able to experience a taste of real joy. Most of our current pilgrims are people who belong to parishes, charity organizations, individuals, families, seminarians, diocese and archdiocese, schools and universities, people who have or have not already experienced the pilgrimage as instrument of enrichment and deepen their faith.
Journeys of the Spirit are open to any age, to any religion, to any human being. A pilgrim can be whoever asks for help or wishes to open himself to God: "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you." A pilgrim can be whoever is far away from God and wishes to be reconciled, whoever has doubt and wishes for clarity. A pilgrim may be you, now, feeling your heart vibrating as you read these words. You are invited. Embrace your journey.
It does not matter which church you belong to—if you wish to join one of our pilgrimages to the Holy Land, or to any biblical destination, or to experience our missionaries and interfaith itineraries, we will be very happy to assist you. You help us to create your itinerary, respecting your belief and traditions.
For example, we hope to see Christian and Jewish travelers going on a pilgrimage together to better understand their common roots and share a journey to the Holy Land. Or we might travel to Armenia to learn more about our Armenian brothers and sisters in the first Christian country in the world. Wherever we go, we wish to act as peacemakers, to build and not to destroy, to unify and not to separate.
The well being of every participant is the goal of our organization when creating our proposals, from the selection of services to the care dedicated to our guests during the pilgrimage. We have always been committed to the mission of making the pilgrimage experience accessible to all who wish to participate, regardless of their background, and we wish to continue to guide in your search and in your encounter with God.
